Daniel M. Nickel is the executive vice president
responsible for leading Laureate Education’s global
human capital strategy. This includes managing
organizational and cultural development, employee
education and development, staffing, employee
communications, diversity, compensation and
benefits, employee relations and HR administration,
safety, and compliance.
Mr. Nickel has extensive professional
accomplishments in the United States and abroad that
provide him with a background that is vital to
developing and executing Laureate’s worldwide human
resources strategy to attract, motivate and retain
experienced, knowledgeable and creative employees
throughout the organization.
Mr. Nickel joined Laureate after a 15 year career
at Motorola where he served as senior vice
president, Human Resources. At Motorola, Mr. Nickel
was responsible for helping build the Motorola
presence in Latin America. During this time,
Motorola’s Latin America region revenues grew from
less than $200 million in 1990 to over $2 billion by
1997. Mr. Nickel was later promoted to senior vice
president of HR for the $30 billion Communications
Enterprise business unit and he eventually helped
lead a successful turnaround of the $14 billion
cellular telephone business, which had over 16,000
employees worldwide.
Prior to joining Motorola, Mr. Nickel worked for
Monsanto Company, Armco and Varian Associates where
he held assignments in both domestic U.S. and
international operations.
Mr. Nickel has a B.S. in Business Administration
from the University of Missouri and a Juris Doctor
from Santa Clara University. He is a member of the
State Bar of California and the American Bar
Association.
